Sonja came up with this tying style which has no toe strap or knot under your foot.
You can slip these on and off in a moment. BTW, you won’t end up with a big flap in the front… that’s just what happened in the picture 😉
First, a few tying tips and notes:
Lacing tips:
Sonja’s No-Toe Tying Style
This video makes a reference to our Classic Kit with our old name, Invisible Shoes… you can do this with our FeelTrue outsoles which will be much better.
Also, you can do the same lacing style, but “rotate” it so the knot ends up behind your heel!
And since there’s exposed lace under your foot, I recommend coating that part of the lace with Shoe Goo for added protection.
Step-by-Step instructions coming soon!
🙂 I believe the ends of a shoelace are called aglet and I always thought bobby pins were named after the ‘bobbed’ hair style. Thanks for the tips!! We love your shoes!!!!

I just got my Z sandals and then noted your tying method. I guess I need to order the origninals and try these as they are super light. I did the originals with the standard tie. I like nothing between the toes.
I used this method after I tried the classic method of tying – so I had a toe hole between my 1st and 2nd toe – since Sonja’s method tends to let the toes slide forward, I incorporated the between the toe holes into the lacing and now have more of a Chaco lacing system which I think is going to work perfectly. No horrible rubbing between my first and second toe anymore. I should post a picture…
